Our History

The Footstop Clinic is a modern Essex based podiatry clinic with a team of friendly professionals providing a patient focused, private podiatry service with convenient opening times; ensuring you get results and return to your optimum health.

The Footstop Clinic is a legacy clinic that was established over 40 years ago by Mr R.M.Waddington and has now been succeeded by his son Daniel Waddington.

The clinic provides the classic podiatry and chiropody treatments such hard skin, corns and nail-care, verruca treatments and ingrown toenails. The clinic also specializes in gait analysis which is the assessment of the way someone walks. This type of assessment is used for a wide range of foot and leg pain as well as lower limb sports injuries.

Over 20 Years of experience

About Daniel

After starting his career at a Harley Street Sports Injury Clinic; Daniel has brought the industry leading pressure measurement system with him to aid in his gait analysis (assessment of the way someone walks).

With this cutting-edge technology, he is able to assess and diagnose a wide range of lower limb injuries or conditions as well as create unique 3D printed orthotics for treatment.

The pressure plate uses 4000 high speed sensors to map the small movements and loading speeds of the foot as well as highlighting peak pressures to offload. This type of assessment will benefit not only professional athletes but kids, elderly people with balance issues and recreational walkers.

Our Treatments
How we can help

Podiatry / Chiropody

Routine Nail Care | Hard & Dry Skin | Corns & Cracked Heels | Athletes Foot & Sweaty Feet

This 15-30 minute treatment will transform your feet with the safe surgical removal of hard and dry skin by one of our highly skilled Podiatrists/Chiropodists or Foot Health Practitioners. Your nails will be shaped and the thickness reduced to leave your feet looking the best they can be.

Verruca Treatment & Needling

Verrucas are notoriously difficult to get rid of. It would be a course of treatment to try and get rid of them. A verruca is a virus and so it is your immune system that actually gets rid of them, not the treatment. the treatment is designed to cause localised damage to the verruca tissue to get your immune system to recognise you have a virus, it then it has to make the medicine and deliver it to the verrucas. This sounds long winded and sometimes it can be. There are no treatments that are 100% successful.

Needling is different from most other treatment modalities (such as caustics/acids, which can entail dozens of applications to be effective) as it only requires one, or occasionally two, applications making this an ideal treatment for busy people. 24 hours after treatment you can shower as normal without the need to keep bulky dressings dry. In fact, no dressings are required at all after 2 days, so you can continue with daily activities as normal.

Paediatric Foot Services

Gait Analysis | Flat Feet | Knocked Knees | In-Toeing | Tip Toe Walking | Sever's Disease | Freiberg's Infraction | Osgood-Schlatter's Disease

When babies are born the bones in their feet have not completely formed and are more like cartilage. This cartilage slowly ossifies (turns to bone) even up to the ages of 11-12 this process is still going on.

After about 8 months to a year the feet are strong enough to attempt weight-bearing and walking. The bones are not fully formed yet so it is always best to be vigilant to ensure your child is walking comfortably. As your child grows, keep an eye out for anything that looks unusual, if you see something worrying or you think your child is walking in pain or discomfort then come and see us at THE FOOT STOP for a full walking assessment. Abnormalities spotted early could reduce the risk of more serious foot issues later on in life.

If you are concerned about the way your child walks or would just like some reassurance get in contact and book in for a 15 minute Kids Foot Check Appointment.

Phits Insoles
3D printed & custom made for your feet

The footscanning technology used at The Footstop intuitively translates your dynamic data into the Phits Insole design to complement the knowledge of the medical professional. 3D printing has also provided many clinical advantages over traditional orthotics, including directional and localised stiffness to cater for the individual’s unique foot structure and movement.

Phits are also less than half the weight, accurate to within 0.1mm and exact replicas can be produced if required. They are protected by D3O®, the leading impact protection material, which offers maximal shock absorption, comfort, and extreme durability.

Orthotics are not just a therapy for pain, they are widely used as a preventative measure to reduce the risk of injury, minimise fatigue and improve running performance.

Many of the UK’s elite runners such as Sir Mo Farah, Lynsey Sharp and Eilish McColgan regularly use this cutting edge footscan® technology to provide accurate, objective information about their running and footwear. Eilish emphasises the importance of this footscan® data, promoting the ethos “if you’re not testing, you’re just guessing!”

So, whether you are chasing after a qualifying time for the Olympic marathon or just want to play some tennis in your free time, you want to perform in the most optimal conditions. Phits 3D Printed Insoles can help you achieve this.

There are other types of orthotics available. Our experienced podiatrist may decide that ‘off the shelf’ orthotics are more suitable for you and this is something that can be discussed in your initial consultation.

Gait Analysis
An assessment of the way you walk

The Clinic

Foot Stops’ Gait Analysis and Injury Clinic boasts a private consultation room, and a spacious examination room equipped with a treadmill and specialist pressure plate equipment to identify, treat and provide rehabilitation for all lower limb complaints.

What is Gait Analysis?

Gait analysis is the assessment of the way a person walks. This can be done with video analysis, pressure plate analysis and through observation and interpretation by our highly skilled podiatrist.

Why is It Important?

When a small problem develops in your feet, subtle changes in the way you walk will cause a chain reaction of adjustments in your posture and walking mechanics. These adjustments can put stress on joints higher up your body, and lead to more serious problems.

Orthotics (supportive shoe inserts/insoles) alongside exercise can minimise these abnormal movements and associated stresses, which in turn can reduce pain, prevent injury, and increase movement efficiency.

How We Can Help

Using innovative technology, pressure plate analysis can identify abnormal foot pressures and movements during the footstep that are not visible to the eye. Traditionally a podiatrist would visually assess your foots’ standing posture and see you walking on a treadmill to guide their treatment plan. This is a very objective assessment which is difficult to accurately repeat.

The pressure plate used at The Footstop has over 4000 sensors which produce an accurate digital image of the movements underneath your foot and highlights the high-pressure areas that may be a concern. The podiatrist is then able to slow down the video to identify subtle asymmetries between the left and right foot.

This dynamic data can then be translated by the foot-scans’ intuitive technology to create an accurate and advanced 3D printed orthotic manufactured by Europe’s largest 3D printing company; Phits.
